Unknown Cambrian Worm Fossil from Utah

Name: Phylum Annelida?

Geological Time: Middle Cambrian

Size: 45 mm (if straight)

Fossil Site: Wheeler Formation, House Range, Millard County, Utah

Worm FossilComing from the Cambrian Wheeler Formation deposits of Millard County, Utah, this plate contains an unknown worm that might be an annelid. The annulations on the body (Annelid is derived from “little ring”) are clearly evident, but there are no scelrites to indicate a nematomorph body plan. Whatever the case, it is a fine example of soft tissue preservation found in selective bedding planes of the House Range of Utah.
