Flexible Forbesiocrinus Crawfordsville Crinoid

This is the Flexible crinoid Forbesiocrinus multibranchiatus (Family Synerocrinidae). The Subclass Flexibilia gets its name from the general flexible appearance of the crown (this one looks somewhat like a clenched fist). This is a larger than average example of this type of crinoid. This one very three-dimensional in aspect, a fine example of the variety of diverse crinoids to be found in the Crawfordsville deposits.
