Cyclostrobus fossil conesDescription: Cyclostrobus is the name given to cones of the lycopod Cylomeia, yet another example of the fact that in the case of fossil plants, leaves, cones, and bark often have their own names due to the fact that they often were discovered separately. Here is a fine example of several of these cones in association from a lycopsid that survived the Permian extinction that took many of its relatives.
