Superb Undescribed Trilobitomorph from Cambrian Utah

Lamellipedia ?

(Trilobitomorpha) incertae sedis

Phylum Arthropoda, Superclass Lamellipedia (sensu Hou & Bergström, 1997)

Geologic Time: Upper Middle Cambrian

Size: 17 mm

Fossil Site: Weeks Formation, House Range, Millard County, Utah

Trilobitomorph fossilThis enigmatic arthropod has trilobitomorpha characteristics, and has as yet not been described in the literature. Notice the decided difference in width of the anterior portion, complete with what appear to be robust genal spines.

Following the monograph of Hou & Bergström (1997), we might guess the placement within their Superclass Lamellipedia that seems synonymous with Arachnomorpha (Trilobita + Chelicerata + other basal arthropods).
